As part of the laboratory’s core staff, I have been involved in various research and service activities particularly in the validation of laboratory procedures and the establishment of a country wide, Philippine population genetic database using several human autosomal and Y-chromosome STR (Short Tandem Repeat) loci. In addition, I’ve been involved in conducting training workshops on basic DNA analysis and in the conduct of forensic casework. More recently, my work has been focused on Y-chromosome STR markers (Y-STRs) and their potential use in mixture analysis, e.g., sexual assault cases and in human lineage studies. >>
