Can samples be collected outside the laboratory?

For routine paternity testing, blood samples are collected at the laboratory by a licensed medical officer. If the parties are unable to come to the lab, blood samples may be collected by any qualified staff from other clinics/institutions. In such cases, procedures for collection outside of the lab (please see Guidelines) should be strictly followed. The necessary forms will be sent by the laboratory upon request.

Is it really necessary to collect samples from the mother?

The laboratory encourages the inclusion of the mother’s sample for a complete paternity testing. Testing of alleged

father and child are also accepted after consultation.

How long does the analysis take?

For simple paternity tests, results are available within two weeks to one month from the date of sampling. More complex DNA analysis, e.g. criminal investigations, exhumations, may require a longer period.

How much does it cost? Can payment be given on installment and does the laboratory accept payments made in cheque?

The cost for simple paternity testing amounts to P15,000 for each individual blood sample included in the analysis.
